Needham - Medfield Rail Trail

The project to convert the unused 7-mile corridor between Needham and Medfield to a multi-use recreational rail trail has gained momentum recently. The current operator, Bay Colony Railroad, no longer uses that segment of the line and is willing to revert control back to the MBTA, the owner of the line. Meanwhile, the MBTA seems willing and interested in leasing the corridor for use as a rail trail.

The prospective greenway is called The Bay Colony Rail Trail , and a group has been formed to work on the realization of the vision.
